Feast

At Barton Court - Midsummer Edition

An evening of food, wine and atmosphere in the barns at Barton Court

At Barton Court is our new occasional dining series, created with guest chefs and wine partners to bring you something extra special

Each edition is different - shaped by the season, the menu and the people involved - but always centred on good food, well-chosen wines and other drinks in a setting that makes the evening feel like an occasion

What to expect

Food

Seasonal menus created for each edition, designed to suit the time of year and the style of the evening.

Wine - and other beverages

Carefully chosen drinks, introduced during the evening and paired to complement the food on offer that evening from a 5 course tasting menu to a buffet of desserts.

Setting

Barton Court sits beneath the Malvern Hills in a setting that feels both special and welcoming, very much at one with the excellent food and delicious wines that will be served here. The beautiful old barns and the surrounding grounds give these events their atmosphere: old beams, warm light and enough space to create a sense of occasion.

Format

Each edition is slightly different, but all are designed to feel generous, well-hosted and enjoyable from beginning to end.

The Midsummer Edition

Thursday 25 June

Our first Feast at Barton Court takes its inspiration from some of the vibrant and exciting countries that border the Mediterranean.

Created in collaboration with Fusion Brasserie and Hay Wines, the evening brings together a seasonal menu, matched wines in a setting made for summer.

Expect a warm welcome, a carefully planned degustation and an atmosphere of fun that carries through the whole evening.

Meet our experts:

Together Michele and Felice have devised a matched pairing of food and wine that will take your taste buds on a journey around the Mediterranean.

The evening begins with a warm welcome to Barton Court. If the weather is fine, we will be serving you fizz outside on the terrace or the lawn with a contingency plan for the vagaries of our English summer in the Saw Mill.

Dinner proper begins with a trip to Greece with a starter that reminds you of hot days under the bright blue skies of the Aegean. Aubergine is at the heart of this dish, a vegetable much love by all the Mediterranean countries for its ability to carry flavour.

We then move on to Italy where - with an award-winning Italian chef in the kitchen - the next course has to be pasta. But, not just any pasta, pasta filled with lobster in a fragrant saffron sauce.

The main event takes us to France, home of fine dining. ‘En crepinette’ is a classical technique that ensures the flesh of the lamb stays moist and juicy, while the outside crisps up. Think posh barbeque cooked by an expert. Served with flavoursome vegetables, this is a quintessentially summer dish.

Spain has not been forgotten and takes its place at the dessert stage when you will enjoy the wonderful wobbliness of the Spanish version of pannacotta, garnished with lemon and almonds.

Finally, back to Italy for the cheese course: gooey mellow blue cheese accompanied by the king of all fruit.

Throughout the evening, Michele will be describing the wines that you are enjoying and giving you background on why they were chosen to complement the specific dishes.

N.B. Felice is happy to design a PESCETARIAN or VEGETARIAN version of the menu for you. Please email me for details.
